Grappa di Moscato Vendemmia 2005: a Challenge to the Test of Time

As autumn rolls in, bringing the harvest season and moments of reflection, Marolo is thrilled to introduce its latest creation: Grappa di Moscato Vendemmia 2005, which celebrates 18 years since the grapes were harvested.
The Philosophy
A tribute to Piedmont and the beauty of evolution, this grappa stems from a bold challenge, reflecting Marolo’s commitment to capturing the essence of the land. The goal is to push beyond the usual boundaries of aging for a grape variety known to be quite tricky to mature. The aromatic notes of Moscato – Williams pear, elderflower, rose, and citrus – can be resistant to long aging, as the influence of wood can overshadow their fresh and delicate character, potentially altering their original expression.
At Marolo, we’ve always believed in the mission of showcasing the unique qualities of Piedmont’s native grape varieties through our grappas, while respecting our agricultural and artisanal heritage.
After years of careful observation and research, we have managed to transform the vibrant floral notes of Moscato into a mature and complex aromatic profile with this grappa, while still preserving the grape’s natural freshness and expressiveness.
The Grappa
This exceptional grappa is made from the pomace of Moscato grapes harvested in 2005, which has been distilled and aged for 18 years in a single oak barrel.
Elegant, smooth, and enveloping, it beautifully illustrates the magic of evolution and the transformation that only time can bring. On the nose, the floral and citrus notes typical of Moscato evolve into rich aromas of cooked fruit and raisins. Despite its long maturation, the grappa retains a lively freshness, complemented by subtle tertiary nuances.
On the palate, it offers a silky, velvety texture with a round, satisfying sip. The finish is long and persistent, showcasing a delicate balance between complexity and smoothness, making it an ideal companion for moments of contemplation. Perfect as a digestif, this grappa pairs beautifully with a fine cigar, thanks to its luxurious texture and flavor that, while aged, remains refreshingly vibrant and refined.
